Hub Steering Committee Chair Michael Sharpe (left) and Hub Leader Prof Veena Sahajwalla (right) joined a manufacturing roundtable event as part of the AgQuip festival in regional Gunnedah, NSW.
They joined local community leaders and other regional representatives in discussions about regional manufacturing, and in particular the importance of using waste as a feedstock resource to help create more sustainable communities and local circular economies.
Other special guests included Federal Assistant Minister for Manufacturing, Senator Tim Ayres; Federal Minister for Agriculture, Senator Murray Watt; and NSW Modern Manufacturing Commissioner, Lisa Emerson.
Also attending were local Gunnedah manufacturing firms including Many Fabrication, Prides Easifeed and the Carrol Cotton Gin, the UNE Smart Region Incubator and Local Government representatives included the Country Mayors Association.
